International Business at Slotshaven Gymnasium were on the move again. This time to Europe’s second largest international port, Hamburg.
Following in the musical footsteps of the original Beatles line-up the students were able to visit and experience first-hand the buzz of this great vibrant city. Did you know Hamburg has more bridges than any other city? No time was wasted as the students were invited to VISIT DANMARK to learn how Denmark promotes itself to its largest trading partner. Another good reason for extra German lessons …

A guided tour through the streets gave the students time to reflect over Operation GOMORRAH when 43,000 German civilians were killed due to Allied bombing in July 1943.
The remains of St Nicholas Church stand in a solitary tribute to those who lost their lives. Somewhat pointedly the students visited AIRBUS the company which know cooperates with its European partners to build commercial aircraft sold around the world. A leisurely boat trip with a well-informed guide around Hamburg’s harbor allowed the students to really appreciate the enormousness of the port and its unquestionable value to the German economy.
The afternoon was spent in Hamburg’s dungeons but thankfully only as visitors. The trip ended undertaking a trip around a chocolate factory where students were given an insight into the production and marketing of one of Germany’s leading chocolate producers, CHOCOVERSUM. All students were allowed to make their own chocolate before heading back to Denmark. Next on the agenda for International Business, Galicia in Spain.
